History

In 1952, Adams Telephone Co-Operative was formed by members who not only saw the need for rural telephone service but that this service needed to be provided over a larger region, rather than small, independent exchanges only. By 1965, Adams Telephone Co-Operative to serve member’s homes and businesses in 13 exchanges, and continues to do so today.

Over the years, as communications services and customer needs have changed, Adams has remained committed to ensuring our rural areas have the communication services you need. In 1984, we established our first subsidiary, Adams Telcom, Inc. to provide wired cable TV services, and today provides cable TV in Augusta, Bowen, Camp Point, Clayton, Coatsburg, Fowler, Golden, Lima, Loraine, Marcelline, Mendon, Plymouth, Paloma, Quincy and Ursa.

In 1994, we established our second subsidiary, Adams NetWorks, Inc., to provide Internet services to the Cooperative and surrounding areas.

Also in 1994, our third subsidiary Adams TelSystems, Inc. was formed to provide long distance services to the Cooperative. When customers not served by Adams Telephone Co-Operative wanted the same quality local service as the Cooperative members, this entity grew to provide voice services for businesses and residents in many surrounding areas.
