Users can use many methods for creating the content for their site, but the only method of getting the content onto the server is File Transfer Protocol (FTP) using software. Microsoft FrontPage users may create content, but can only use the FTP method for uploading files; the FrontPage HTTP publish method is currently unsupported.
After installing your FTP software for uploading files, follow these procedures:
1) Verify that your web space is available by going to:
http://users.adams.net/~username
If your space is available and activated (as outlined above), you will see a placeholder page with some limited instructions. If you receive an "object not found" error page, contact Adams technical support.
2) Point your FTP program to the correct server by entering users.adams.net in the FTP Host setting of your FTP software.
3) Use your assigned login and password to connect. The destination folder location is public_html. Your actual home page file must be named index.html or index.htm. This MUST be lower-case. You will need to either delete or overwrite the index file that is initially located in your web space.
NOTE: Files that are uploaded outside the "public_html" folder are not accessible via a web browser, you may use this area to store personal data. Please note that there are no guarantees that this data can/will remain private.
