Adams Telephone Co-Operative is pleased to announce that its fiber-to-the-home project, Adams FiberWorks is progressing on plan.  In this multi-phase, mutli-year project Adams is connecting all of their 13 telephone exchanges with the latest in high tech fiber optic technology and electronics.

Jim Broemmer, Chief Executive Officer, detailed the project in a recent meeting and explained the various components involved in the technology. Broemmer stated, “In phase one; which was completed at the end of 2010 we built-out the towns of Golden, Mendon, Ursa, and Lima. These customers are now receiving voice and data services via this state-of-the-art technology.  The second phase of construction for 2011 includes the remainder of the towns of Augusta, Chambersburg, Coatsburg, Fishhook, Hersman, LaPrairie, Loraine, Marcelline, Paloma and Plymouth. Our future phases will include the rural areas of all of our exchanges. Our goal is to eventually provide each and every Telephone Co-Operative member with a fiber connection.”

With phase two under way, Adams is hosting seven town hall meetings over the next two months to directly communicate to its Co-Operative members the sequence of events each member can expect with the delivery of the new fiber infrastructure to their homes and community.

Gary Cantrell, Adams Plant Superintendent, commented at the most recent town hall meeting held in Paloma, IL, on June 21, “this project represents Adams commitment to providing leading-edge technology to our membership and to pave the way for future services”.
